Avg Anti-Virus And Walling Data Safeguard Hospital Networks Health
Newton, NC April 8, 2010 - Jesse Wulf is a network administrator at Wisconsins Osceola Medical Center (OMC). Like his colleagues, he would be focused on health, but in his case, the health issues related to computers a network of 150 workstations and eight servers, to be precise. Once we installed AVG Anti-Virus on all the machines, the very first scan for caught and removed viruses from quite a few machines which Symantec had certified as clean, he said. Sadly, this was not a surprise. What Ive found out through experience is that, nine times out of 10, if you install AVG on a machine that is running Symantec, McAfee, or any of the other big-name anti-virus software out there, AVG Anti-Virus will find something the others missed.
Wulf also appreciates the softwares miserly use of system resources and full range of functionality, along with the efficiency of the central administration console.
The best feature about AVG for me in a healthcare environment is to be able to see at a glance which machines are out of compliance in other words, their protection is up to date. HIPAA regulations require us to take all possible steps to safeguard our clients data, and Ive not found any other product that can tell me within ten seconds which workstations are non-compliant. So now, instead of having to either physically go to each workstation or scan through each and every workstation, I can go to one place using AVG and see right away which systems need updates, virus scans, or other tasks. It gives me a great overview of our network security.
