Jay Leno’s Garage Floor Choice
Indio, Calif. – Reading an article in Garage Style Magazine featuring Leno’s custom-built garage in Burbank, California, Randy Nelson, President and Owner of Swisstrax Corporation, saw the garage flooring and decided he had to help out with setting up better garage floor pads to compliment the renowned car collection.
With the assistance from Don Weberg of Garage Style Magazine, Randy was able to set a meeting with Leno and part of the garage team. He first met up with Mr. Bernard Juchli, a native Swiss, and Leno’s “mechanical genius”. The two hit it off as Randy is fluent in Swiss German and was able to speak with Bernard in his native language as well as French. Juchli was kind enough to grant Swisstrax a chance to meet with Leno and install some floor pads in the Big Dog Garage.
Nelson was impressed with Leno’s knowledge on his whole collection and the fact that Bernard, George, Jim, Per and others on the garage team built the cars from the ground up and turned them into what is seen as one of the finest collections around.
Jay, Bernard and the team loved the fact that Randy brought his 3 elementary school aged children to help on the floor pads installation, which confirmed the ease of installation with Swisstrax tiles. The garage team and Leno were also thrilled with the floor pads themselves (Swisstrax’s Pearl Silver and Slate Grey Ribtrax were used in a “parking pattern” design). The floor pads are available in a variety of colors and designs and range form single car pad size to over 2000 sq.ft.
Leno was particularly surprised that a plastic floor pads could withstand the weight of a 6,000 lb. car –the tile floor pads in fact can hold up to 40,000 lbs. in rollover and have up to 5100 lbs. in compressive strength.
The Swisstrax Ribtrax car pads are currently used to display Leno’s collection of Duesenbergs (one of Jays’ prides) and Bugattis, and their Ribtrax Anti-Fatigue tiles were used in pads around machines in the workshop, which was appreciated by workers who stand for long periods of time around the larger equipment that requires constant surveillance.
