Don't panic, this short guide will aid you inevaluating the facts about each.
1. Chain Drives - The most frequently used and often the most affordable, chain drives use a metal chain to operate. However the concession is a loud motor. So the question is, do you mind noise? If your garage is not attached or you want to know what time your teenagers are coming home at night this might be a good selection. But if you'd rather no sound, perhaps because there are bedrooms above the garage, the chain drive might not be for you.
Summary: Cheapest but noisiest. Great if you have a not connected to your home garage or don't mind noise.
2. Belt Drives - Considered the best opener available. Belt drives, like chain drives, are very good but unlike their noisy brethren they run nearly silent, thanks to their rubber belt!
