3 Big Reasons To Switch From Using Brita Water Filters

Now don’t get me wrong, any filter is better than none at all but the ever popular and top selling Brita water filters have many limitations, even potentially jeopardizing your long term health.

1. Size Is Important

The most common Brita water filters are the kitchen jug or pitcher styles which are quite good at removing chlorine, but due to their small size, many of today's most dangerous contaminants get through like Volatile Organic Chemicals (VOC's) and the new phenomenon of pharmaceuticals in the supply like antibiotics and growth hormones.

Do you really want to drink other people's medications and herbicides? That's what is regularly found in tap water today. Look to get a proper system like a multi-stage process one, with ion exchange that can remove over 99% of all contaminants.

Check Brita's performance data sheet if you can find it, to see exactly what it removes, and you will see it doesn't even come close to removing all the toxins.

2. Expenditure

The upfront cost of a Brita is not too much, around $30, but when you factor in all those filters you end up paying around $200 a year. This is how the company makes its money, as well as making coffee machines and fridges. 

Would it not be better to get your home filtration solution from a manufacturer that solely focused on water purification?

The upfront cost is around $120 and 2 filters a year for $95 puts you ahead already after one year, and with vastly safer water.

3. Convenience

I know when I used to have Brita water filters, I used to get fed up with the constant changing and priming of the filters, and the hassle of buying them and trying to find space in the fridge to keep it cold!

When you install a whole house system or a high quality counter top, water comes at the touch of a button, with a filter change required only every six months. I am aware Brita make a faucet version but it does not remove enough of the dangerous particles I talked about previously to be able to recommend it.

Find a company which only makes water purification devices, not like Brita water filters, and uses the US EPA recommended carton block filter with a multi-stage process and ion exchange to truly give you peace of mind and great tasting water as it once was.
