Rustic, old world and traditional kitchen styles are among some of the most popular choices and there are many others to choose from. So what's it going to be? Deciding on your kitchen's theme can be one of the toughest home improvement choices you'll make because the kitchen isn't easily hid. Moral of the story, pick something you'll love each and every day, for a long time! Let's face it, redoing the kitchen is a big pain in the…yea. Decide on what type of design you want and then tackle the big project of remodeling it.
The contemporary kitchen incorporates styles from the 1940s and presents many European countries such as Scandinavia, Germany and Italy as inspiration. Stainless steel, laminate, frosted glass, concrete, and linoleum can be surprisingly cheap materials in comparison to ones needed for other styles. It's actually doing the work that's the expensive part! Contemporary kitchens almost require that you're a clean freak. If your kitchen is cluttered or spotty most of the time, you might want to try a different theme.
The rustic kitchen incorporates styles that are influenced by the Pacific or Mountain West and Southwestern. Some go with the log cabin and lodge look. The kitchen cabinets mostly consist of knotty pine, hickory, alder, warm shades of brown, green, red, and yellow. Counters may be natural-looking tones of granite. This style makes any kitchen cozy and every morning feel like a lazy Sunday in the mountains.
To make this project easiest, choose your two favorite styles and start collecting photos from the Internet or home improvement magazines. Put together a collection of images for each style and determine material costs. The determining factor may be your budget, but make sure that you really do love the style that you go with. After all, you'll surely spend many groggy mornings fiendishly caffeinating yourself in there.
